Frequently asked questions

Can a walk-in clinic in Manitoba prescribe Ozempic?
Yes — a physician or nurse practitioner at a walk-in clinic can prescribe it, the same as anywhere in Canada. Manitoba Health directly pays a physician's medically required services. Its coverage page does not mention nurse practitioners, so ask the clinic whether you'll pay for a nurse practitioner visit (gov.mb.ca). The limitation is the same one described in our Canada-wide guide: a clinician meeting you for the first time is working from what you can tell them in the room, without your history.
Can a pharmacist in Manitoba prescribe Ozempic for me?
No. The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba's self-limiting-conditions list covers things like uncomplicated urinary tract infections, allergic rhinitis, cold sores, and dermatitis — none of it reaches a GLP-1. A Manitoba pharmacist can issue a short-term bridge refill of an existing Ozempic prescription a doctor or nurse practitioner already wrote, to cover you until you see your regular prescriber, but cannot start one. Alberta is currently the only province where a credentialed pharmacist can.
Does Manitoba Pharmacare cover Ozempic?
Manitoba Pharmacare is a public, income-based program — coverage depends on your family income and an annual deductible, not a flat yes/no. The Manitoba Enhanced Pharmacare Program (MEPP) provides no-cost coverage for a defined set of categories, and some drugs carry Exception Drug Status (EDS), which requires your prescriber to submit a prior-approval application before it's covered. Whether that applies to your own prescription is worth confirming directly with Manitoba Pharmacare or your pharmacist.
Which online providers serve Manitoba?
From our records, these providers serve Manitoba and their own websites say they prescribe Ozempic: HIMS Canada, MedExpress, Felix, Pocketpills, Raven and Maple. See the table at the top of this page for their fees and links.
Where can I fill an Ozempic prescription in Manitoba?
Any licensed Manitoba pharmacy — chain, independent, or mail-order. Current pharmacy-by-pharmacy pricing, including the cheapest listing we've found, is on our Ozempic in Manitoba price table.
How do I get an Ozempic prescription online in Winnipeg?
The same way as anywhere else in Manitoba — online providers check that you're located in a province they serve, not which city you're in, so a Winnipeg resident goes through the identical intake as someone elsewhere in the province. Winnipeg does have the widest concentration of in-person walk-in clinics and pharmacies in Manitoba, which mainly affects how quickly you can be seen or fill a prescription in person, not which routes are open to you online.
Can I get an Ozempic prescription online in Manitoba without a family doctor?
Yes — telehealth and walk-in clinics are both routes that don't require an existing family doctor relationship. See our full guide to getting a GLP-1 prescription without a family doctor for the walkthrough.
Why would a prescriber in Manitoba say no?
Because a prescription is a clinical decision, not a purchase — the same everywhere in Canada. A practitioner may decline based on your history, current medications, other conditions, or because your request falls outside the authorized indication and they don't prescribe off-label. A decline isn't a dead end — ask what would change the assessment, or what alternatives exist.
