How to get a Zepbound prescription online in Canada
Zepbound needs a prescription in Canada. To get a Zepbound prescription online, you fill in a health questionnaire and a licensed Canadian prescriber reviews it, sometimes with a video or phone call. If they approve it, the prescription goes to a pharmacy you choose, or the provider's pharmacy fills it and delivers it. Approval is not guaranteed.

How getting a Zepbound prescription online works
- Fill in the intake. An online questionnaire about your health history, current medications, allergies and measurements. For Zepbound, expect questions about your height and weight, and about conditions such as high blood pressure, dyslipidemia (abnormal blood fats), prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea or heart disease.
- A prescriber reviews it. Some services book a live video or phone visit. Others have a prescriber read your answers later, with no live conversation. If your history is complicated or you have questions, choose a live visit. Check which one you are paying for before you pay.
- You get a decision. The prescriber may approve, decline, ask for bloodwork or records, or suggest a different approach. Paying a fee does not buy a prescription. Treat any service that implies otherwise as a warning sign.
- The prescription is filled. If approved, it goes to a pharmacy: yours, or the provider's partner or mail-order pharmacy. You are generally free to choose.
- Follow-up. Zepbound is taken once a week. The monograph's starting dose is 2.5 mg, raised to 5 mg after 4 weeks, with any further increases at least 4 weeks apart and a maintenance dose of 5, 10 or 15 mg (Zepbound Product Monograph, section 4.2). Ask who handles follow-up before you start.
A decline is more likely when you don't meet the criteria in Zepbound's monograph. The section on who can get Zepbound prescribed, below, sets them out.
What an online Zepbound prescription costs
You pay for two things: the online visit and the medication. Here is what our records show for the providers we list.
The online visit: $0 per visit among the providers we list across Canada. Ogaei charges a $9.99/month membership instead.
If the provider doesn't sell you the medication, you pay the pharmacy's price for each pen. A valid prescription can generally be filled at any licensed Canadian pharmacy, and prices for the same pen differ from one pharmacy to the next.
Across 7 Canadian pharmacies, Zepbound runs $312β$599 per pen (updated October 29, 2026).
Compare Zepbound prices by province, and read the MyZepbound savings card guide before you pay cash. How we collect prices is on our methodology page.
Most people pay for Zepbound themselves. The CMA says "only a small number of private insurance plans offer partial coverage for GLP-1 drugs approved for chronic weight management, and public drug plans generally do not cover them" (CMA). Zepbound is not on the Ontario Drug Benefit Formulary or the Exceptional Access Program list (ontario.ca). BC is reviewing it for adults with a BMI of 27 or more and prediabetes (BC PharmaCare). Alberta's interactive Drug Benefit List returns no tirzepatide product (Alberta iDBL). In August 2026, Canada's Drug Agency recommended public coverage only for adults with a BMI of 27 or more and prediabetes, if conditions are met (CDA-AMC).
Can you buy Zepbound online in Canada?
Yes, with a valid prescription. A licensed Canadian pharmacy can fill a Zepbound prescription, and that includes online and mail-order pharmacies that ship to you. You cannot legally buy Zepbound online without a prescription.
Health Canada says a legitimate online pharmacy "Requires a valid prescription from a physician or other health practitioner licensed to practice in Canada." It is also licensed by a provincial or territorial pharmacy regulator, has a Canadian-licensed pharmacist available to answer questions, and gives a street address in Canada (Health Canada, Choosing a safe online pharmacy).
Ordering from outside Canada is not a workaround. Health Canada states: "You cannot legally import a prescription drug unless you are a practitioner, a drug manufacturer, a wholesale druggist, a registered pharmacist, or a resident of a foreign country while a visitor in Canada."
Who can get Zepbound prescribed
A prescriber decides case by case. What we can tell you is what Health Canada has approved. The product monograph's indication reads:
"ZEPBOUND (tirzepatide injection) is indicated for once-weekly administration for chronic weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of: 30 kg/m2 or greater (obesity) or 27 kg/m2 to less than 30 kg/m2 (overweight) in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidemia, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease)."
In plain terms: Zepbound is approved for chronic weight management in adults, alongside diet and activity, with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to under 30 with a weight-related condition. Health Canada has not authorized it for anyone under 18 (monograph, section 1).
Zepbound contains tirzepatide, the same medicine as Mounjaro, which is approved for type 2 diabetes (Mounjaro Product Monograph). The Zepbound monograph says not to combine it with other tirzepatide products such as Mounjaro, or with any GLP-1 drug. Public coverage, where it was recommended, is narrower than the approval: Canada's Drug Agency recommended it only for adults with a BMI of 27 or more and prediabetes (CDA-AMC).
Other ways to get a prescription
Family doctor or nurse practitioner. A good fit when your history is complex: they have your records, labs and medication list, and a measured height and weight. Slowest to book, strongest on follow-up.
Walk-in clinic. Faster to see someone, but they don't have your records. Some clinicians will start long-term treatment at a first visit; others refer you on. Ask first.
Pharmacist. Outside Alberta, pharmacists can generally renew or adjust an existing prescription, not start one. In Alberta, a pharmacist with Additional Prescribing Authorization may start one, at their discretion (CPhA).

Red flags
- No prescription needed. The CMA says a website offering a GLP-1 drug without a prescription is "a major red flag" (CMA). Health Canada lists "Does not require a valid prescription" as a sign of a fraudulent online pharmacy.
- No Canadian address or licence. Health Canada also warns about sites with no "bricks and mortar" business address, sites located outside Canada, and drugs at very low discounted prices. Some sites claim a Canadian licence they don't hold, so check the pharmacy with your provincial or territorial pharmacy regulator.
- A promised approval. A prescriber can always decline. A service that implies your fee guarantees a prescription is a warning sign.
The risk is real. Health Canada says "You may end up with a drug that contains wrong or harmful ingredients, or no medicinal ingredients at all," and that medicines from fraudulent online pharmacies "may not be stored or transported properly" (Health Canada). There is no generic Zepbound in Canada, so a "generic" offered online is a warning sign.

- Felix's tirzepatide prices are no longer quoted with a fixed date; the Felix review has its current prices. The pharmacy price sentence now reads "updated" with the date of our newest price record.
- Rebuilt the guide around getting a Zepbound prescription online: a short answer first, a table of online providers whose own website says they prescribe Zepbound (with your province selected), costs from our records, public plan status and Canada's Drug Agency recommendation, buying online, who can get it prescribed, other ways to get a prescription, and red flags.
