What is retatrutide?

Retatrutide (trial code LY3437943, per ClinicalTrials.gov) is a single Eli Lilly molecule activating three hormone receptors — GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon — as a once-weekly injection, per Lilly’s own consumer page. It shares its incretin class with the semaglutide-based Ozempic and Wegovy and the tirzepatide-based Mounjaro and Zepbound — the only one of the four built to act on three receptors, not two. No brand name has been announced; Lilly refers to it only as “retatrutide,” unlike its oral orforglipron, renamed Foundayo the moment the FDA approved it in April 2026 — one more sign approval isn’t close, in Canada or the US.

Where retatrutide stands (July 2026)

Lilly announced results from two more Phase 3 studies, TRIUMPH-2 and TRIUMPH-3, on July 23, 2026 — body-weight reduction (efficacy estimand) of up to 20.8% and 22.6% at 80 weeks, versus roughly 3–4% for placebo. It’s the fifth straight positive Phase 3 readout, following TRIUMPH-1’s 28.3% result on May 21, 2026 — though an earlier, smaller study also flagged a new adverse-event signal, dysesthesia (abnormal skin sensations), in roughly one in five participants at the highest dose.

Yet Lilly now won’t file with the FDA until Q1 2027, not end-2026 as previously guided, citing more manufacturing and quality-control data needed. TRIUMPH-5, a head-to-head study against tirzepatide, is expected around November 2026.

Is retatrutide coming to Canada?

As of the list’s June 30, 2026 update, retatrutide is absent from Health Canada’s public list of new drug submissions under review — we checked the full table directly. Two rival incretins are already in that queue: Novo Nordisk’s CagriSema (accepted March 2026) and Lilly’s own orforglipron (accepted January 2026). Canadians will likely see both — possibly by years — before retatrutide even enters review.

Retatrutide has not reached even the first step — Health Canada acceptance for review. Lilly says only that launch depends on finishing its trials and completing review, without a date. From what’s public — a Q1 2027 FDA filing, a year-long US review, then Health Canada review (historically 9–12 months for a new incretin) plus the launch gap above — availability before 2028 looks unlikely. No Canadian price exists for retatrutide, and no Lilly statement or analyst estimate could be verified — so we won’t invent one. The closest honest reference is what Lilly’s existing incretins already sell for in Canada.

As of July 25, 2026 on GLP1Prices.ca, the lowest listed Mounjaro price is $271.62 CAD (Costco Pharmacy, BC), up to $800.00 CAD; Zepbound starts at $274.75 CAD (Walmart, Ontario), up to $799.00 CAD — both branded Lilly biologics in pre-filled pens, retatrutide’s likely category. The “buy retatrutide online” problem

Retatrutide is not just unapproved — Health Canada has twice named it in advisories about unauthorized injectable peptides: August 1, 2025 (products seized from vendor “Canada Peptide”) and an advisory updated April 9, 2026 covering products intercepted at the border. “Research use only” labelling doesn’t make these products legal, Health Canada says, citing risks including liver or kidney damage.

The FDA agrees: retatrutide “cannot be used in compounding under federal law.” It has sent 14 warning letters to companies advertising retatrutide since 2024 — six kept selling it anyway, per CBS News, which also found 120-plus websites and 50-plus clinics promoting it, and poison-centre exposures up 265% by early 2026. Lilly warns illicit products may contain unknown ingredients and says no one should take anything claiming to be retatrutide outside a company trial.

Every approved Canadian drug carries an 8-digit Drug Identification Number, verifiable in Health Canada’s database. Retatrutide has none.
