Is a generic version of Wegovy available in Canada?
Yes. Health Canada approved Sevmia (Apotex) — the first generic version of Wegovy — on June 29, 2026. (Several news outlets reported the name as "Svemia"; Apotex and Health Canada spell it Sevmia.) Sevmia's price has not been published yet. Two earlier 2026 approvals — Dr. Reddy's (April 28) and Apotex's Apo-Semaglutide Injection (May 1) — reference Ozempic. Novo Nordisk has also launched authorized generics: Plosbrio (equivalent to Ozempic) and Poviztra (equivalent to Wegovy).
