Rexall Launches Home Delivery of Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus

Canadian pharmacy chain Rexall has begun offering home delivery of Ozempic, Wegovy and Rybelsus through a new partnership with Novo Nordisk Canada, the drugmaker announced in a statement.

What the Rexall partnership offers

The service, branded Novo Nordisk Care Rx, has launched across all Canadian provinces and territories except Quebec. Orders are fulfilled through Rexall's online pharmacy, Rexall Direct, with pricing described as being "in line with in-store pharmacy".

According to Novo Nordisk, patients can receive shipments at "no additional cost" and may consult with a Rexall pharmacist by phone for personalized guidance. Rexall Chief Operating Officer Jeff Boutilier said in a statement that customers can "confidently access Ozempic and Wegovy products from a trusted pharmacy" through the collaboration.

Products covered

The delivery service covers all three Novo Nordisk semaglutide products authorized in Canada:

Quebec is excluded from the launch.

Launch coincides with generic entry

The home delivery rollout arrives as the Canadian semaglutide market shifts. Health Canada has authorized two generic semaglutide injections: one from India's Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in April 2026 and one from Canadian manufacturer Apotex earlier in May 2026. Canada is the first G7 country to authorize generic semaglutide, with seven additional generic submissions under review.

The BMJ reported that the Dr. Reddy's generic became available in Canada on May 15, 2026, making Canada only the second country in the world to approve a generic form of semaglutide. Erez Israeli, chief executive of Dr. Reddy's, said in a press release that the company "remain[s] dedicated to expanding access to innovative, high-quality, affordable GLP-1" products in Canada.

Pricing context

Global News, citing Canadian health-care platform Felix, reported that the average cost of Ozempic injections can range between $200 and $450 per month depending on the province, while Wegovy's list price is approximately $5,066 per patient per year, or roughly $400 per month. Health Canada has stated that generic medications are often 45 to 90 per cent cheaper than brand-name versions.

Current pharmacy prices tracked on GLP1Prices.ca show Ozempic ranging from CA$93.29 to CA$663, Wegovy from CA$270 to CA$550, and Rybelsus from CA$230 to CA$293.99, consistent with the ranges cited in reporting. Canadians can use our insurance coverage checker and generic semaglutide tracker to follow the rollout.

Insurer response

The Globe and Mail reported that generic semaglutide entry could push prices down by up to 65 per cent, with pricing reaching 35 per cent of the Ozempic brand price once at least three generic options are on the market. Total claims paid out by Canadian insurers for weight-management drugs rose to $77 million in 2024 from nearly $38 million the prior year.

Sun Life spokesperson Jolene Sonshine told The Globe that when plan sponsors have already listed a drug such as Ozempic or Wegovy, listings of the generic product will occur immediately.

What this means for Canadians

The Rexall partnership adds a national mail-order channel for Novo Nordisk's semaglutide brands at a moment when generic competitors from Dr. Reddy's and Apotex are entering Canadian shelves. For Quebec residents, the Novo Nordisk Care Rx service is not currently available.
